This book is majorly based on Abhikram’s photography expeditions to Ranthambhore Tiger Reserve and Jhalana Leopard Reserve, and the time that he spent with individual tigers and leopards. This book was written by Abhikram during the lockdown, and after 5 months of restless efforts, it is available in the market. This book aims to give detailed explanations of different flora and fauna of Ranthambhore and Jhalana through its exquisite pictures.
This book also includes details about the different behavioural aspects of tigers and leopards. This book will be an excellent document to have for all the wildlife enthusiasts, especially for the ones who want to know about Ranthambhore’s tigers and Jhalana’s urban leopards.
Abhikram Shekhawat is a 17-year-old wildlife photographer and a student studying in 12th grade in Jayshree Periwal International School. He has been fond of wildlife since the tender age of 4, and has been particularly enthusiastic about tigers of Ranthambhore. With time his passion for wildlife increased and he got involved in wildlife photography, and started taking part in various photo contests.
He won ‘Junior Photographer of the Year’ at Nature’s Best Photography Asia 2020 and ‘Second Runner-up’ in Young Photographer category at Nature InFocus Photography competition. It all started when he was 3 years and went to Ranthambhore for the first time. It was a jaw dropping view for him when he had a close encounter with tiger for the first time. It was a tigress “machhli” from the woods of Ranthambhore national park that sparked his interest in wildlife.
The first safari in Jhalana was a gift to Abhikram from a closed one, when he was 13. Since then he started going there every year to quench his thirst for wildlife behaviour. He saw 4 leopards there and enjoyed wildlife photography and started collecting some good photographs for his wildlife photography exhibition.
Abhikram very well realised that his curiosity about wildlife is a never ending thirst. He started spending more time in Jhalana and Ranthambhore. Wildlife photography demand a lot of time and patience and sometimes he had to wait for hours just to take a single good shot. Abhikram also got to learn about the behaviour of tigers, leopards and other wild animals among which tigers of Ranthambhore excites him more. He finds himself lucky to have the opportunity to know about tigers, their family and their behaviour.
The Untamed book by Abhikram Shekhawat beautifully depicts the wildlife of Jhalana and Ranthambhore, especially the tigers and leopards and their behaviour.
